Los Angeles

Dust to dirt – A concrete forest
Swaying against a piloted sky
A desecrated habitat:
Where Carnal is King

Painted shapes, words, and figures;
Markings of hate by the modern tribes
Splatter the sides of these gray giants
Whilst they tower over passersby

Shabby, shuffling creators
Men long forgotten
Men long unseen
Feed off the waist of the dignified

Take a look at the horizon
Digest what you see:
The beauty, the grandeur,
The pride of industry

But beware! Beware!
Do not fold this place up into a slide
And examine through a microscope
Nor look on with a telescope

Lest you see the homeless, the lonely
The sellers of priceless ‘wears’
The savage gangs that ravage and consume
children of broken homes

For in contrast to what we tell the world
This is no scintillating city of lights
But the forest of monsters:
Lust and Pride
