The Cycle of Life
as the mind unfolds
is like any story
from toes to nose
follow the flow
of the character's speech
the limits of thought
and the limits of reach.

Minute by minute
and day by day
reiterate madly
play by play.

The cycle unfolds
with a so-telling game
word for word
and blame by blame.

Here again
the hurricane comes
around Cuba
then Florida bums,
up through the gulf
you can see it’s the same
year after year
just changes the name.

The pattern's predictive
the troubles all known
it comes on like clock work
you look in the yard
and there stands the gnome.

Just where you put him
the last time you looked
the business went bust
well the books
were all cooked!

What to expect
when the questions remain
you get the same answers
they call it "refrain."

Try a new effort
an attack so unique
that everyone wonders
and stands on their feet
is this the moment
when handling things
the story is different
and bottom
is reached?

Don't swim
to the shore
and you probably
won't beach!  

Use your head
and handle this stuff
get a grip on your shit
and say it's enough.

Look in the mirror
and look in your eye
and tell that sad feeling
to jump
and then fly.

Take the first step
and make out a plan,
its works out quite well
whether woman or man.

Resolve in your shoes
to do something today
to write your own story
and star in your play.
