Who's that girl...
[font=Tahoma,Geneva]Who’s that girl who lies awake in bed early in the morning,
who watches the sun rise in all its majestic glory,
she looks into the sky with hope filled eyes,
she knows she’s ready for today’s journey
Clown-shaped clouds smile back at her as they slowly fade away; taking with them the rain of the previous day, the girl waves,
and the sun shines brighter and extends its rays, they stretch so far just to lightly beam against her face, she smiles with grace,
then sets her gaze, into the distance, her mind starts to race
But what does she think of with that smile on her chubby face,
she shuts her eyes almost as if to pray, but does she sleep?
No, yet closed her eyes remain, but wait…
I know this girl, she’s no longer the same, she no longer cries in pain,
no longer seems to feel ashamed, the look on her face is no longer lame, in fact, even her posture has changed, she no longer carries that burden, her hands are no longer chained, I think she’s found peace, I think she found the way, she’s no longer detained, and as she opens her eyes I notice, no sadness remains
She sits up in bed, high as the heavens she lifts her head,
she takes in a deep breath, pulls the cozy blanket off her legs,
she brings her feet onto the floor, and into the pink slippers carefully placed there the night before,
she looks around the room with a smile so faint but still hard to ignore, then finally fixes her eyes on the distant door
She begins to walk, but something catches her eye and so she stops…
Into the mirror she gazes confidently, she stares into her eyes that once use to weep, I know she admires the beauty she sees, but she takes one step back as if intending to leave,
and then looks back into the mirror and smiles back...at me
