The Carnibarn Hanging

Ah troughed through the mud out to the old blood red barn
Tah hang mahself an escape the foretold flood of dead yarns
That fickle fing I always did try to abide bah
The scared ink that leaves the sick undermined
Mah faithhood in Jesus ah read in mah bible
Standith this faith all drowned in the tarn
Of mah barn, half jack, half sunk
Dark and black and dank
The splinters melting off
Smelling kinda rank
Mah winter’s almost up
So ah throw the rope up over a rafter
To subside mah own sad laughter
To confide mah cesspool of a mind
Ah balance on a stool ready to die
When ah spotted
Upon mah walls that just stood there rotting
Span mah eyeballs to spark the spotting of
A faded image of a clown with a painted smile
That hardly hid his frown of tainted vile
Grainy films played through mah head
Of electric carnivals that now lay dead
Spun dreams of sugar weave
That one eye ghoul and the preacher man who doesn’t believe
Ah spotted on mah stool
Tah blind emu sweet Eloise, who would never take flight and tat rat tamer who would play his pipes
Bella Bobo the sea weary wench who‘s routine with the deaf dwarf caused even the sour to kench
Bella was a bean flicker, yah know? She liked to suck on raspberry ripples.
She’d slip a chorus girl into a cocoon concoction of downer drugs
And eased the girl’s head into her lap, to silken up and down her furry rug
And of course the man called Clit who could read people’s dreams
He got his name because he was especially hard to please
Ah remember tah crooning catfish pie maker who would loom over clockheart waiting for him to die so he could steal the old man’s pacemaker
But that old man would sure go out fighting
We called him clockheart cos he ticks like a flea biting
Ah start to think of the catfish and ah trickle a drool
That forms a slippery po
ol
And ah slip right off mah stool
