Die With A Smile
This the first time we've seen eye to eye
You've stepped down a peg or two
Just to look at what I would do
You thought you'd find me or some other guy
Staring back with a beautiful world
Where loving desperation had unfurled
Into much more than an absent conversation
Where so many words go unsaid
And we both just lay in bed
Dreaming of us both in perfect communication
Still with so few fitting words to find
For how it feels to have our hearts intertwined
We hold so little ways to convey what we feel
Except for the silence and static kiss
Showering each-other in an unwritten bliss
Making us think that it's all barely real
As if holding hands sends us to heaven
Creating our own personal faith and coven
A sacred eternity that keeps us alive and well
Where we live as each-others subtleties
Nurturing our sorrows into novelties
Realizing that we can transform this human hell
Into a landscape of afterlife depictions
Stopping memory from fading to affliction
...And, when we're near the end of sight
I still wish to be at your side
Waiting for a sign to know we've died
That infamous flash of timeless light
Maybe we'll come to see that death
Only exists in our waking breath
You've stepped down a peg or two
Just to look at what I would do
You thought you'd find me or some other guy
Staring back with a beautiful world
Where loving desperation had unfurled
Into much more than an absent conversation
Where so many words go unsaid
