both sides of the fence
his philosophy was
if a cop didn't see it-
he didn't do it
and that's where
his head was at the time
before prison he believed
in free love
shot up heroin
lived in roach infested flats
and danced like a hoodlum
he had a woman once
who left him while
he was still doing time
her parting words "i must
be free" ring out in
the terror of the night
if a cop didn't see it-
he didn't do it
and that's where
his head was at the time
before prison he believed
in free love
shot up heroin
lived in roach infested flats
and danced like a hoodlum
he had a woman once
who left him while
he was still doing time
her parting words "i must
be free" ring out in
the terror of the night

Nice poem. I can so relate to this. My ex is a heroin addict and his life is lost inside the prison of addictions. In and out of incarceration for the last fifteen years and I don't see him ever being fully paroled.

Thank you so much for stopping to read and respond to my poem. How sad about your ex. I appreciate your openness and honesty.

Love this Faith ... its flow and cadence ... crisp line breaks ... also like the lower case "i" ...

Many thanks, dear friend! I'm honored you think so. How very nice to know that you not only checked my poem out but also that you added it to your RL.
