The love of my life

From one love to the next,
One thing was constant.
My love.

From one love to the next,
One thing was missing.
Their love.

Now?
May they find better lives with another,
That's who they love more, right?
"So you had a baby and the "daddy" ran off?
It's not my kid, we're just friends remember?"

Yet I can not help feeling lost.
My last girlfriend,
Dumped me for my best friend.

Now?
I have found a new love.
Though it kills me slowly,
I find it better than any of them.
It drowns away no only their whispers
But also their their ignorance and malice.
In fact,
It has more kick than they ever did.

Each sip,
Is another kiss,
Invigorating.
Each sip,
Is another kiss,
Euphoric.

The nice crystal clear elixir,
Flows steadily,
Splashing the back of my throat,
Cleansing it in cool purity.

Now?
I drink away those memories,
One sip at a time

Now?
I spend more time drinking,
To the love of my life.
