We didn't make it

Its been said that  
Every relationship goes through shit  
But real relationships get through shit  
So is that the reason why we just didn't make it?  
 
We weren't really there  
we really didn't care  
we really were at odds  
but was that the actual cause  
 
I mean We can blame the military  
We can blame the distance  
say we just weren't ready  
or how you didn't want to give in  
Scared of Commitment?  
But you gave me a ring  
at the end of the day it didn't mean anything  
 
 
I held you down no questions asked  
Stayed up all night knowing something wasn't right  
and when your infidelity came to light  
I was always by your side  
did more than my share, took more than I should  
Broken promises always wish that you would  
come home, love me strong instead I stood  
wondering how I ended up on the wrong side of this love song  
All the plans I had for us just went wrong  
 
We didn't have the ability to get through that shit  
No love lost and that was it  
No More you or me or Us  
If anything I lost it was my ability to trust  
believe none of what I hear and half of what i see  
Although I still keep a piece of you with me  
that piece that keeps me on toes  
and my heart in the right place  
the part that lets me deal with bs  
helps me save face.  
Life is indeed a hard teacher and a lesson was learned  
that love really don't love nobody  
and We're through as far as I'm concerned.  
 
But like I said all relationships go through shit  
but only real relationships get through shit  
But thats probably why ,no Im pretty sure thats why we just didn't make it
