See the Little Mice
scamper through the maze;
day in and day out looking
for their daily piece of bread;
around corners,
avoiding dead ends,
a beehive of beady eyes
and twitching noses,
a sea of color, waves of fur
searching the labyrinth;
their reward - the Big Cheese.
- Meanwhile -
See the Fat Cats
sitting on The Hill
looking down, eyeing the frenzy
with lip-smacking eagerness,
washing and primping the fur
on their Garfieldian bellies;
bloated from their gluttonous feasting,
waiting to pounce again
to grab their daily
pounds of flesh from the naive morsels below.
- Alongside -
See the Rats
hidden in the jumble;
red eyes and sharp teeth,
long tails and devious minds
crouching around corners,
concealed in shadows
waiting for the unsuspecting tidbit
to cross their paths,
to snatch from the colony
the ignorant creature
as an offering to the Cats
in return for amnesty.
