AN OLDER 'HELEN' LOOKS BACK
My face could have once launched a thousand ships;
Now it’s messed up by drink, smoking and chips,
Too many nights burning the candle both ends
With the girls, my ex husband and past boyfriends.
Some rivalling men over me did fight;
Such emotions now I could not excite,
Now I’m an overweight single mum
With a fat-laden overstretched tum.
For the dishiest blokes I’d get up and go;
In my language there was no such word as ‘No’.
Such adventures I shall not see again now;
Who wants to run round with a ‘big fat cow’?
(So-called by my last ex, when he saw me in nowt,
Before reducing me to tears and walking out.)
Bars I once haunted I clean for bread and butter,
I’m a shark’s loan away from hitting the gutter.
To all girls coming up, I tell you the truth;
This is what has come of a misspent youth!
