to Dance with Her

I stare her in the eye
a smile plays upon her lips
mischievious and brave, she is
so mysterious is her lure
how I wish I were her

I spin away
and I see her movements
in sync with mine
so graceful and fine
in that parallel universe
where dark things come alive

I bow
and she does the same
arms extended gracefully
self control barely contained
we look up and meet eachother's eye
her look has turned cold
her posture taunting and bold

this isn't right
We were suppose to be
one and the same
alive and free
playing a harmless game

she rises as I rise
leaps as I leap
bends as I do
knowing my every cue

an alarm goes off in my head
adrenaline shoots through my veins
I'm loosing control
my heart filling with dread
what will now happen
if I lose?
Will she take control?
what will she do?

We both pause in sync
I know I'm not smiling
so why the hell is she?
she raises her arm, waving goodbye
I turn away in utter shock
ready to just lay down and cry

I spin back around and she's gone
in her place
is my worried face
and now I know
there are no more games
to be played
