The Call of The Meremaid(Short Story 3)
The world sunk below the sea, everything was swallowed by the dark blue depths that welcomed me into its ranks. I couldn't push myself to breathe, I forgot how to in that moment, things were exploding in my eyes. There was a whisper in my ear, telling me to fight and swim, and it's compulsion is what saved me.
I haven't been to that sea since, fearing that I would drown again, but I knew I couldn't. Not with that saving soul that pushed me to fight for my life, to escape the constriction of the water's hands. I knew I would have to go back, someday.
I raced back one afternoon, calling out to the sea, searching for my savior. The sea didn't reply. I decided it was time to jump back in.
I dived into the cold salty water and swam out into the blue. There was nothing to see, the salt was burning my eyes, my throat started to seize up, and I was starting to suffocate.
Just as it seemed that I would die, I opened my eyes and saw a beautiful creature swim up to me, and she pulled me to shore.
"Why did you come back? The waters here are evil," she said.
"I had to, I knew I had to find you, who saved me," I replied. Then I looked at her legs and saw a long tale full of green scales instead.
