John please save me a seat

The enemies that they would have you fighting
start with other Americans here
For you must tow the line in November
or else we all we have too much to fear

But let's look at the merry-go ground they give us
more then the bare eye can tell
Institutions will still get richer
of this we should know really well

For when two billion is spent in advertising
that money doesn't go to you or me
But networks that are hardly diverse
maybe a token here and there to see

For it still is a struggle for a nonwhite
to get on the any screen
Despite how many years since Poitier
Guess Who's Coming To Diner made segregationists scream

Just look at the awards shows
the pinnacle of tv and movie success
A certain homogeneity
the displays just leave me depressed

Yet those are the organizations that rake in bucks
when the campaigns message shape and so
Not helping any underpaid worker
in any city I know

And we must really look within
we export weapons all over the place
perhaps an instrument of home production
put that bullet in a US soldier's face

"I'm just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go"
