Every day thugs don't come up in news stories
They don't cause homicides, do drugs or use forties
Nah, they're normal people just like the rest of us
But they lack compassion, out to get the best of us
Rarely physical but they can cause the same harm
Key manipulations of their patrons while they feign charm
Sinister plots twisted into criminal thoughts
On the fast track to success with minimal stops
It's that angry colleague who's sick of the small league
That jumps upon your corpse even while the body's falling
The driver cutting you off to save a few seconds
That car dealer who's readily selling new lemons
The exploit of artists who are working the hardest
The talented are harnessed then left searching their pockets
Heartless cut throats that happen to be civilized
Doesn't stop them from stomping on the dreams of little guys
Metaphorically, everywhere is a place of sin
Any measure it takes to win, let the games begin

Thinking about it an everyday thug is probably you
It's not me, i'm too polite, it's gotta be true
We keep moving on each other like a property loop
With a self-fulfilling prophecy of poverty too
I'm feeling awfully used but that wont last long
The traits I hate from others are eventually passed on
That strong wave of negative emotion is open
Hell would ice over before the motion is frozen
I'm stuck holdin the strings of my moral fiber
In two realms where most things pull the portal wider
A normal writer, I pay attention to the details
An extension of itself if tension isn't derailed
We failed, in construction of society
A dynasty where anxiety struggles against piracy
We either choose to abuse our fellow creatures
Or get trampled underfoot as one of the mellow dreamers
A balancing beam seems to be half the challenge
Those that gain from pain go below to pass the damage
But if I have to pick I'd rather have the palace
