Silent Wittness
I sit here alone in my room,
a silent witness to the cruelty of the world.
No one else seems to see what I see
seeing the world for the dark place that it is.
All of the pain and anguish people go through
or the chains that seem to burden everyone.
I alone am a silent witness to this all.
As I sit here in my room and watch
watching the world through my window.
For here in my room I am safe from all of this.
Here in my room nothing can touch me,
and so I stay in my room.
Though I am safe here I am also alone.
No one to be with me and share the good in the world.
The laughter, joy, and love that I see
through my window everyday,
will never reach me here in my room.
For I am the silent witness,
seeing it all but never experiencing a minute of it.
