Abused by Darkness
The zeal that burns inside of me,
Pulls me up to my feet.
To take a step into darkness
And beam through my burning chest.
Abused by darkness,
I am no longer afraid.
I still walk the world shining.
The light beams off my skin with zest.
Zapping darkness away.
My smile grows bigger.
But I am just a shadow who absorbs light.
Abused by darkness,
EnoughThat it still remains inside.
But smiling brightly,
Is one ability to brighten.

Oh my God, the imagery, the way you wrote it...very talented, and very awesome! Anyone can write something dark and depressing, but not many can share light like you have with this poem. I love it so much!
