Free Speech

The man on the street
has his feet on the ground
his ear to the track
taps his feet to the sound,
but every man moves
to his very own drum
some through subtraction
and others through sum.

Some are optimistic
they think it will go,
others pessimistic
they rather think no.

But each to his drumming
he steps to his line
he follows his passion
and speaks his own mind.

And this is the reason
for freedom of speech,
for each man is reaching
and extending our reach;

as each man, and woman,
and child on the street
can help us to learn
to dance to the beat.

For each has a vision
of how it should go,
each one with wisdom
their very own know.

If you are not thinking
exactly like me,
please learn to speak up
and set us all free.
