For Justine and William
Oh! so debase and wretched a crime
has yet to be imagined by all the evils of men
such as I have visited upon this world.
To reach into this mortal coil
and tear back it's vital warmth
has ever been the dream of mankind.
How sad that it should be I who discovered its secrets.
If I had but grasped the falsehood of the lovely dreams
and the gravity of the nightmare
no amount of feverish obsession could have led me to such pursuits.
Alas! with woefully vain and youthful a mind
blind to the obvious horrors before mine eyes
I committed this divine perversion.

Thank you! Now, I wonder, can you guess from whose perspective this was written?

pretty fucken creepy, I loved it. you asked a question in your response to someone else, well I'll take a shot in the dark, please don't laugh, no I'm just kidding, laugh at my ignorance if I miss the mark. my first guess, and I'm not a religious person at all, but from what I know of the bible[bullshit] I can see lucifer, the former morning star, after having fallen from his station is reflecting back but in your poem his sin was knowledge, not vanity.

perhaps your'e just saying that if you had believed that fire and brimstone shit in sunday school, you would not have been open minded enough to explore and in doing so finding the real truth, but saddened because the masses will say the you're blaspheming, there by committing in the eyes of others the devine perversion. that's my take on your work, but of course this was just a guess. I like stuff that makes ponder the meaning, I wll be discecting this poem for quite a while I suspect. SABBATH

I love that you've given my work such thought Sabbath (it's super flattering :P), but I'm afraid that there aren't meant to be any religious connotations in this one.
Would you like me to tell you the answer, or would you rather keep pondering?

Thanks for linking me here Nimmie. I can't say that I can grasp the theme, but It's a wonderful poem none the less. I guess the mystery makes up a great deal of the beauty for this one ^_^

All I can come up with is the falsehood of religion =p Or possibly your resentment towards our/your creator. Am I close ?

lol no, nowhere near. XD
You know what, I'm just going to tell everyone, right here, right now;
It's written from Victor Frankenstein's perspective! I even wrote it in the same style as the book.
