that one word
Daddy!
He screams
And my heart is torn away from me
His first word
Is to me
Daddy
He said
But he is not mine
Ohh I wish I could claim him as my child
But a child
Does not belong to a man
Who's age registers him as one himself
Even though he never had a childhood himself
Daddy he says
Daddy went away
Daddy I never got to see
Mommy raised me
My little one calls me daddy
When he has both
A mommy
And a daddy
And so I look forward to the day
I can be a daddy
To a baby boy
That one word will light up my life
Daddy
He says

And my heart is torn away from me
His first word
