Just an empty carcass
Just an empty carcass
Left to sit by the grass
With a drink in one hand
I could still make my stand
But will still just lay here counting the clouds
Because I'm too afraid to look on the ground
For answers
Because the ground's answers spread into my brain like that cancer
That consumed your soul
So we packed our problems away in a bowl
It was too late anyway
Sick was there to make a stay
So gradually the feelings slipped away
And you never made it to the next day
And I turned to the only family I knew
The one that sleeps in Sinsemilla and brew
And I counted the stars
The ones that you said were the scars
From the battle that saved us
But left you buried in the dust
And I'm still so confused
As to why it had to be you
I would have took your place
I would have accepted your fate
But you left me with your always sublime words
But that time I actually heard
And understood what you said
And now left wishing you'd still be walking on this land
But you're not
But to you I'll throw back this shot
And keep one hand raised to you
In the off realization that you always knew
But I can't change a damn thing.
So I'll just stay here taking care of your wings.
