We knew.
We knew where it would lead, the playful talk,
Edgy smiles.
Staring into the eyes of the other so intently it seemed to heat the room until we could feel the electricity sparking between beings.
We did it anyway.
We welcomed it.
We tiptoed hungrily towards the thin thread we knew we weren’t supposed to cross.
Entangled in each other’s limbs we twisted and intertwined
until we seemed one.
Breathes shortened as fingers
danced delicately across bare skin.
It was beautifully wrong.
The fragrance of the other inhaled deeply into the lovers’ lungs,
spiraled through hair and sweetly scented our skin.
We knew it would hurt,
But greeted it as an old friend.
We knew where it would lead, the playful talk,
Edgy smiles.
