Nightmare
He chuckles as he pinches, bites,
Makes me writhe in my sleep.
He chuckles as he hurts me,
Throws me back into nightmares, too real.
He's only being affectionate,
But in my dreams, I see the devil.
His smile twisting into a leer,
My subconscious hates him,
While in the waking world, he's my angel.
I dream of someone I used to know,
Breaking me for sport,
A twisted face I used to know,
Becoming his face as I hurt.
I run between the dead trees,
Trying to get the hell away,
Somehow, every time I turn a corner,
He's stood there, again.
I stop, I search for sanctuary,
There she is, leant against a gnarled tree,
She smiles, oh so carefully,
Giving me the look that says she'll love me.
I run towards her,
Praying she'll keep me safe,
The next thing I see is her entwined with someone else.
I trip up, fall at her feet,
Look up at her smug face.
She reminds me I'm too young, too much drama,
And pulls a gun from someplace.
Turning, looking, I see them all,
Standing in a circle, spectating.
I hear a click behind me,
Know what's coming next.
He smiles, they all lean forward expectantly,
And a metal kiss to the back of my head,
Wakes me with a scream.
He pulls me closer, tells me it's ok,
It was all only a dream.
Kisses me where the metal did,
Tells me I'm safe wherever he is,
And starts to pinch and bite again.
Makes me writhe in my sleep.
He chuckles as he hurts me,
Throws me back into nightmares, too real.
He's only being affectionate,
But in my dreams, I see the devil.
His smile twisting into a leer,
