Stars To The Night
A sky without its stars,
leaves the moon to stand alone.
Your footsteps sauntering away from me,
offers no place to go.
Night after night I see these stars,
but still you have to leave.
Not for good
and not forever,
just to wish a goodnights sleep.
Arms warmed with summer’s breath,
never desire to surrender.
You whisper the words alongside my head.
I hope “I love you” lasts forever.
You walk away,
our goodbyes are said.
Shoes lightly sigh against the cement.
And there I stand wondering alone,
Were these words truly meant?
Looking up, I see them twinkle,
Gods dusting of glitter thrown across the sky.
The moon is full and now I know, tis I.
You are the stars that brighten my life,
And hopefully we’ll never see a final goodbye.
