Girl in a Sari
You turned up from nowhere
my bearer of miracles
with long dreamy hair
bold eyes that laughed without fear
and when you called me lover
I opened my soul to share
But now each tainted word
twists splinters to poison my heart
and as the blood wells up
your memory smiles
working its salt
deeper into pain
beyond an agony of tears
Somehow
you turned into a viper
parading your fangs after the kill
pausing only to yawn
before you bleed me dry
and leave
I suppose your legs are still not bad
but I'd rather remember
that girl in a sari
who cared about me
and not about the money
flexing her toes in the sand
