Dreams
I had a dream she asked me to write,
Write all the words down for her,
She told me she loved it,
Despite what she'd said,
And she'd give me my happy ever after.
I dreamt that she would sit beside me,
Hold my hand as she read,
Her thumb strokes my hand,
Her eyes skim the page,
And it still wasn't good enough, she said.
So I made into a scavenger hunt,
Hid messages in odd places,
The first verse in the coffee pot,
The second under her pillow,
The third in her shoes, under her laces.
I watched as she went all over the house,
To find words that could only be true,
She couldn't find the last verse,
So I pulled her to me,
'It's here' I said, 'I love you'
Write all the words down for her,
She told me she loved it,
Despite what she'd said,
And she'd give me my happy ever after.
I dreamt that she would sit beside me,
Hold my hand as she read,
Her thumb strokes my hand,
Her eyes skim the page,
And it still wasn't good enough, she said.
So I made into a scavenger hunt,
Hid messages in odd places,
The first verse in the coffee pot,
The second under her pillow,
The third in her shoes, under her laces.
I watched as she went all over the house,
To find words that could only be true,
She couldn't find the last verse,
So I pulled her to me,
'It's here' I said, 'I love you'
