My Generation

In this moment of love
I sense nothing from above
Where is this hero we call God?
Most kids get their religion from their iPod
The drinking, the drugs and even sex
Sending these dirty little things called texts
I have seen my generation fall short
Seeing them all that clubs, parties and even some port
Becoming all they can be?
Is it me....
Or can the whole world see
We cannot be simple minded any longer
My generation should be stronger
Refusing the bare mininum
And acheiving the impossible and then some
We are falling fast
And it's because we assume it's our past
The past is easy to forget
And I can make you a bet
I'll become my generations voice
I'm tired of their choice
If god is out there and wants to make a difference
It'll be me and not some illusion we can't sense
I'm here to warn you about the lies
The simple fire that'll burn through the trials
My generation is ignorant and unlikely to see
What it takes be truly free
So listen to my poems and take my hand
I'll be damn sure I'll take you the promise land
A brighter future where we can struggle with a smile
I'll walk across America; mile after mile.
