Scarlet Ignorance (My thoughts on religion and God)

Scarlet Ignorance
Because of you,
Too many have died
Their ancestry had to be denied
Still you stroll around with sanguine pride.

How can you be proud?
You are supposed to encourage
Love, tolerance and hope
You’ve blinded too many
Yet are the spotlight
Among the unsuspecting crowd.

Would you like a reality check?
Allow me to remind you about devastation
The sick and homeless
Children dying of starvation
You’ve caused nothing but havoc and wreck.

You are not omnipresent as you say
I might have seen you by now
Twenty three damn years
And not a single sight
Not even on my darkest day.
