The Feather Queen

Sometime ago there was a wandering feather of remarkable beauty, elegance and love who went in search of someone to which she could join herself to so that she could share her life. She spied the wind and took flight upon him and said that she was in search of this half to make with her a whole. The wind heard her out and when she was finished he cried with the utmost longing and remorse. The feather asked “and why do you cry?” The wind replied “Because I would love that it could be I that would be your hearts rest and desire, but I know it is not and I don’t know where you can find this love. For if I knew, I would glide you to his arms if only just to see you in happiness.” The feather was then asked “But surely you must know where my love can be found.” The wind then told her of the river in the valley and that he would carry her to him for he was old and wise.

So off they flew and once in the valley of the river, the feather asked the old river if he knew where her love could be found. Upon hearing of the feathers request, the old River then moaned as if in the deepest pain. The feather asked him “Old father, are you hurt and what has cased it?” The River then said, my child, I am in agony over the fact that I am old. Far too old for the power of you loveliness. I would be mighty indeed with your love to flowing through me. The land would blossom continuously and yield much fruit. But alas for my age and again for the fact that I know not where such a one as you seek can be found. But if you go ask the Sea, I am sure that she will be able to tell you.

So the feather blew off and when she reached the Sea, glided down to a rock and sang a song of wishing. The sea was moved to hear such a voice and came to the feather and asked her “And just why does such a lovely thing as you sing such a song that is both beautiful, yet incomplete?” The feather then explained that such a song would be on her lips until her love was found. The Sea, a queen herself understood that here sat in front of her a queen in waiting. She then told her of a marvelous but secluded tree, who, like herself, spoke of the love that he was waiting for but knew not where or when she would come to him. The Sea then said to the feather “In the garden of the pearl is where you will find what you seek.” The feather said that she did not know the way. So the Sea called the Salt Wind and instructed him to guide the feather to the enchanted place.

So over the land and the sea they went until they had reached the earths end and on a special island that was surrounded by a very lush garden was a majestic tree in its center. The Salt Wind then let the feather glide her way down toward the tree. On her way down, she again sang her song, but this time not from her lips, but from her mind and heart. The tree heard her song in his mind and heart and knew at once that this was the one for whom he had waited. As she got closer, the tree, in such love and wonder spread his branches and expanded his leaves to receive her. Once the feather alighted upon his boughs, she went close to him and there tickled him with all of her deepest affections. The tree, so overcome by her attentions, lowered his boughs in complete adoration.

The feather then spoke to his mind and said “I am Rishala. And I will love and care for you.” And the tree spoke back and said “I am Kashajarah Zilan. And I have waited to hold and shelter you to my heart.” Rishala then kissed him long and lovingly. And Kashajarah Zilan instantaneously grew the sweetest fruit that could be smelled halfway around the world. They are still very much in love till this day and once every year, A magnificent fragrance goes around the world to remind us all that Kashajarah and Rishala are kissing again.
