take it in stride with a cup of tea
you've got a slight sad face
in the arch of your back
as you smile at the skyline
darling, don't let it wear you down
i've seen beauty in worse places
you have hands made
for picking up the broken
and you do
and you do
as you shatter
the rain has been weathering your lips
for such a long time
and i've been staring at your hips
for such a small time
the wind gets bitter, and i'll sway with her
but your heart beat never changes
pressed against my ear
darling, don't let it wear you down
i've believed in worse things
