Is he/she asking you to pray? If so, and if this gives you hope, than he/she is giving you hope. But why do you want to hope? Are you talking about the present or the future or both? Why hope if she/he isn't giving you any? Just some questions, not to be taken too seriously, please. I like the poem but it is too abrupt, too cautious.
let me explain it like this: An injury occurs, relative to you or not, and people ask you to pray for their swift recovery. There's no point in asking people to ask some higher power to put their good thoughts in instead of just putting their own in their selves. Don't ask me to pray, ask me to hope and believe and chances are I already do.
