On Spiritual Gifts

A Great Saint has said,
"Mostly we pray for something
That is going to help our body,
Our mind, or those people we love.

However -

How many times do we pray
To God for God?"

Other than the above -
Most of our prayers should be aimed
At toward what is going to help us
On our spiritual journey,

Some good examples
Of gifts to prayer for -

The gift to love you God
As you love us.

The gift of perfect concentration,
When meditating -
Free from the hindrances of mind.

The gift of compassion,
For all those
Less fortunate than ourselves.

The gift of humility,
To be a perfect mirror image of you.

The gift of chastity,
With a heart as pure as yours.

The gift of patience and perseverance,
To stay the course of meditation
Until the goal is won.

The gift of gratitude,
To be forever grateful for all
Of the gifts God has sent out way.

Finally,

To keep meditating until the
Radiant form of the Friend is reached -
Which is really the beginning
Of one's final journey homeward.
