Not to point any fingers, but come on guys, this is ridiculous
I don't want to keep writing,
when everyone is dying.
Just for a bit of attention,
as if being a poet alone isn't good enough suspension.
Writing from the heart,
whether it's shone with the brightest light, or shrouded in dark.
Isn't it a shame that we can't say what we mean,
and not be looked down on, for not being on the "poetry scene"?
I thought that when we write or read,
it's for the reason of living, or meaning, not competition in something so free as poetry.
Isn't it crazy though,
that there's so many rules, and people we should know and follow.
It's like a facebook for poets,
following and friending people who seem to know it all, but never let the poems do the talking and show it.
I'm not trying to make friends with people just because they have a good following,
but because they mean what they say, and don't even care when they let their hearts sing.
Poems don't have to be deep and meaningful,
they are virtually anything from little white lies, to a big nasty truth.
I don't care that you're the king or queen,
because most of the things you write are ugly and obscene.
I don't want to read it,
and who does, since there is no meaning in it.
It's like another cliche high school scene,
follow someone because they are hot or a pretty voice to sing.
But what happens when the song becomes a lie,
and all they really do is sit and cry.
Not pointing any fingers, because I could really care less,
I'm no good in my writing, but I'll always try my best.
So with that being said,
no discrimination in my head.
I'd like to give a big warm fuck you,
to those who think they rule the poetry world, everywhere, on any site, but especially here, in the wonderful world of DU.
