Valley Hotel
A moment alone with the
freckled ceiling and
the surreal Hawaiian portrait
on the wall.
Tonight we will explore
the hot tub, the bed sheets
In the morning I will get
real eggs, sunny-side up
While he will get scrambled
egg beaters. My father’s girlfriend
will laugh. My grandfather will spill
his wine. Grandmother has already forgotten.
“If I had my choice, I would
never put on shoes.”
We listen to Hair ardently
arguing the qualities of a “good queer.”
