Robbery - Hastily Taken
We sat in the car talking, my best friend and I
Bored often so it was crazy stuff we'd tend to try
See school was a joke and it took no energy
Classes seemed like a waste, text books our enemy
With enmity we'd tag the building with graffiti
With taunts like "is no one willing to defeat me?"
The whole realm of reality within our dominion
Actions only happen if they win our permission
The way it felt at the time was like we owned fate
Had no known date for departure but we dont wait
Taking our lives in new directions on a whim
An infection in my skin, reflections were so slim
Never looked back then and what we wanted currency
That's how it all started, the reason I'm haunted currently
Enough of that lets get back to the story at hand
Of my man and how we laid out our glorious plan
We were sitting there, conversing in the vehicle
Using robbery, our emerging goals were reachable
Convinced me easily, his wording was so agreeable
He said it'd work with me confirming it was feasible
He reached in the bag and pulled out ski masks and guns
The simple tools we needed to make these tasks be done
We rushed through the doors our weapons clearly visible
Honestly thought all threats were really minimal
Yelled at the cashier "Give me the cash, all the money
because otherwise you'll see a flash real fast honey"
Handed her a bag and she opened the cash registers
Laughing as we got money a couple of brash characters
In the corner of my eye I noticed movement
A man was pulling out a gun, our moment ruined
That's the instant when reality actually sank in
I finally realized the mistake we were makin
My best friend turned and aimed, his reflexes seemed sluggish
The man pulled the trigger for what he deemed justice
I watched in slow motion as the bullet made contact
My best friend's body crumbled to the ground and stayed compact
I threw my gun to the floor, this wasn't fun anymore
I was done, never thought I should run for the door
I knelt by my man but he was gone, lost his color
When the shooter fought from cover, I lost my brother
Our family in ruins, how could I talk to mother?
It wasn't her fault, it's not like she ought to suffer
My cheeks felt wet, can't recall if it was blood or tears
I couldn't hear a single thing over my thudding ears
I wept as I held him, without the strength to stand up
But that didn't stop the man from putting me in hand cuffs
My last memory of brother, painfully laden
Here one moment, gone the next, hastily taken
Bored often so it was crazy stuff we'd tend to try
See school was a joke and it took no energy
Classes seemed like a waste, text books our enemy
With enmity we'd tag the building with graffiti
With taunts like "is no one willing to defeat me?"
