What If

When playing 'what if' the rules always change
No real life situation ever stays the same,
Life becomes different, alters somehow,
And you forget the feelings of the here and now.

'what if I'd have gone slow, what if I'd played it cool?
What if I'd never told her she was beautiful?
What if I'd never let that one get to me?
What if my feelings had never been hers to see?'

'what if I was older, what if I was pretty?
What if we'd never been friends, she wouldn't know about me.
What if I was responsible with my drink and my money?
What if she'd never found me funny?'

'what if I'd have got the balls to do this a year ago?
What if my feelings, she'd already known?
What if I'd told her back when I had the chance?
That she puts me into an unbreakable trance?

I'm not, I didn't, I couldn't, and that's the way this story ends.
'I never' and 'what if': 2 games you should never play with friends.
