Of Man and Machine

Description: This poem on top of my previous one posted, (A Lost Soul) was also made in 2011. I think this was one of my best observation poems I have made about society in general.

Please enjoy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
A feather holds us higher than we can fathom

The freedoms it gives, we wish we had them.

To soar into the sky towards the sun

To say that our accomplishments are well done.

However it is sad to say many are held down by metal

As the times advance, so will the tools we use to mettle.

The work seems too much in so little time

That if we don't get it all done should it be a crime?

We one day hope to replace flesh and bone

Create convenience to the human race we condone.

What happens next after machine works for man?

Just be at the beach all day to get tan?

When our tools to collect food break down

What will be there to maintain the plants in the ground?

How about the chickens and cows, the pigs and the fish?

Is this high-tech dream a solution or a broken wish?

How will we know to survive when these things don't last?

Will we still be able to still learn from the past?

Be able to spark up fires and keep warm?

Keep away from the animals and other creatures that harm?

It is only up to us to say

For it is the paths that we choose even on this very day

If we will continue in time to thrive

Or be wiped clean like a disk drive.
