Letter to an Unknown Heart

To the Heart of my Future Love,

Have you ever heard the song "I knew I loved you" by Savage Garden?
I have,
And I feel that it's you and me
Do you feel the same?
You know, I wonder, how will we meet?
Will I simply pass you by on the street,
With a gentle wave and a smile?
Or will you be bold and flamboyant
Out to capture my attention?
Or maybe quiet and gentle
Trying to lure me in with your sweet serenity.
But when will we meet?
Today?
Tomorrow?
How about next week?
Or maybe next year?
Could I wait that long...?
Will I know it's you or you know it's me?
Would we discover the meaning of love at first sight,
Or will we wait and see,
A night or two or maybe a week to learn each other's destiny.
Will our meeting be romantic?
A warm summer's eve beneath the lights?
Could we share our first kiss to wish upon a shooting star?
Would you hold me close in your arms and say you love me?
Enchant me in your loving embrace.
Oh my I'm getting all giggly thinking about it…
I can't wait until we meet,
If only I could count the days
But alas I don't know how many to count.
So I'll count them anyways,
Starting today
And keep going until our hearts collide.

Sincerely and lovingly,
Your other Half

P.S. Could you be looking for me too? Please say we lie under the same set of stars and wonder where on earth the other could be...

I read the letter twice, once in my head then again out load. Looking out the window, I know you're somewhere out there, but where? Would this letter ever reach you? How would it? How could it? And tears begin to stumble across my cheeks as I realize my inky emotions were spread in vain. So I throw away my letter then lay my head to dream of you, of the day we will meet.

But fate you see has other plans
For you and me.
As my letter travels far and wide
It's lifted by the wind and gently dropped upon your door
Where inside you lay dreaming of me too.
