Image for the poem chastized

chastized

The dwindling day rebukes me
My incessant need, brutal
It would not relent

Crestfallen, I silently lament
listening to our creator chastise me
Some people aren't good for you
Yes, Father, but aren't they all your people

My heart sank
Being a misfit, I long to be accepted
With a warm feeling, I did

sulking under a dark sun
As I stomp along, the wind whispers to me
pouting as I go
arguing inside me
wrestling with my Father
But listening intently

My gut said he was right
Adversity comes in all different forms
Looking like sunshine but bringing a firestorm
Hot ash blown across my soul
Should I fail to listen
