Morning in Paradise

It's morning in Honolulu
And CNN features the Pope's casket
seemingly crowd surfing a wave to
something beyond death,
whatever that might be,
some undefined variant
of eternity

Then a segment with ancient holocaust survivors embracing youthful Hamas attack survivors
with the Gaza survivors of their own holocaust survival conspicuously in absentia

And I felt my heart go all herky-jerky,
an 80 year old poet in early dementia

I saw the Antichrist-in-chief
double down on threats to China
Deny federal aid to tornado victims in Arkansas and wtf have they done to my song, ma?

Blamed the war on sartorially challenged Mr Z
And pointed out Putin's huge concession, the Russian finger in Ukraine's vagina with the solemn promise to go no further this session

The kakistocracy rages
as climate change is defined as hoax and lapped up by the masses
50% of which read at 6th grade level

And the Dunning-Kreuger effect
huff and puffs w/ viagra junkies
openly unzipping

While near to home
my brother-in-law mr homophobe
recovers from his day before stroke
and does not know where he is
or what is happening, (which is pretty much life as usual if we're being unusually honest)

And yes the sun also rises.

No surprises there.

There seems to be
no subtlety to the End Times Follies.
Bomb, climate, assassination  plague--take your sick pick, mr dick.

It's morning here in Paradise
and DUP lies supine on a gurney
and we soon disperse on the tarot fool's journey

I'm all out of words
to describe the absurd
Of standing on a ledge 5 stories up
thinking of acceleration
at 32 feet per second per second
as a kind of nihilist celebration

As if I could one last time
step out into the void
and magician-like

Pull SPLAT
from a hat.

Selah.
