Uninvited

Uninvited, you absorb my strength,
Withdraw my progress,
Cloud my rationality,
Siphon-off my reasoning
And replace it with pain.

You bring forth no sense, nor reason,
Imprisoning me in your unwelcome
Net of lies and delusions.

I command you to go away
And retreat back
Into my subconscious,
To let my wounds heal
And become scars…
But you will not.

You plague me,
Torture me,
Divide me.
An ever-losing battle.
From which I cannot move forward.

Life
Deals an unlucky hand,
And, in turn,
Memories often take more than they give.
