Ancient dirt roads
abuzz with those
that (long ago)
quit the pavement.

A can of thought
struck with lucid spade.

Town-chow dry inside
like a mouse in the oven:

thunder, now passed,
praising rain on a lean-to...
campfire high & sky
full of ghost & gust.

Satisfied shine, rich
with daggered eyes in flight...
earth & alighted, poor
with cosmic delusion...

cockatrice glare
through fog & moon.

Venerated dirt road
ablaze with this
that is suddenly vision:

a jar of mind
'neath moss & spike.

Author's Note
Another old ButcherBelial poem from Spring of 2011. I know where stuff's buried, but not always the exact spot. It's not as easy as it looks in the movies.
