through the rearview mirror
pursing your hush
my soul burns
sitting in your silence it calms
but it makes me long
and you know
it's your chaos, powerful
so under control
my need weeps and my gentleness
pulls on your stoic
with a greedy ache
you feel me like a whirlpool
with a strong undertow
until you say enough
my soul is broken, just wants to bask in your light
your shine warms where others fail
my stigmata less, painful
crucified for being as such
intense presence can make a light flicker
not your glow you just become more you
and I retreat in the shade
where I can dance with shadows
knowing you still watch on your periphery
with a smile on your face
