Earthly Fellowship
He embraces a lover, not only because of lust,
but because he's learning that human
flesh—every part has always been divine.
As he enters her, efficiency is not the goal.
Speed, success, procreation—
these are distractions from the trust in her breaths.
Is this not prayer, this joining of two as one,
becoming something greater than their parts?
For in the gentle press of lips and
the strength of hips finding cadence
there is joy, there is worship,
in this tender, earthly fellowship.
but because he's learning that human
flesh—every part has always been divine.
