Never mine

As I take pen in hand
To write but one final verse
I stop to read your text
Examine your photos
The love begins to poor
From my eyes as rain
My hands begin to shake
Knowing this is but a farewell
It becomes hard to breathe
Catching my breath
Becoming impossible to breathe
Empty time will fill the void
As you slip thru my hands
Putting down the pen
Unable to write
I see now that was once unclear
You were never mine
To have and to hold
Till death do us part
It was but a dream
Made by the shadows of my mind
The tears they to will fade
The days will go on
The nights will be long
 I leave but these simple words,
I loved you
