Kind Man's Healing
I kneel before this man,
naked as I have before others,
yet he is different;
his kindness is familiar to me.
He is a man who selflessly gives
to the poor and heals with affirming words.
His presence now, his desire,
stems not from lust but from a longing to heal.
I feel his dark warmth
against the palms of my praying hands.
My faces burns as he grows firm, reaching upward.
A solitary tear escapes his swollen brown crown
as if mourning our pasts
but anticipating a healing’s approach.
I lean in, my lips meeting the tear,
its salty taste a reminder of our humanity.
Then, with care,
I take him in, his fullness filling my mouth,
knowing that in these moments of healing,
all pain and regret will vanish.
naked as I have before others,
yet he is different;
his kindness is familiar to me.
