Over in a Distant Shore

Dreamers we were sighing as whispered winds
travelling with hands reaching playful drifts
our hopes whimsical unreachable as shadow dancers
mere whispers in air kisses like spectral gifts

before you left in twilight's hush sleepy eyes
looking towards the setting sun, sea kissed sky
bittersweet in life's lessons Soul learnt to fly
bathed in moonlight's shiny magic dusts

to have been cradled in that moonlight
to have rode on that foamy sea crests
laughter could have been our delight
our hearts together in shimmering space

fate’s tender hand did pull a lie
its caresses warm, gentle and sly
your hands slipped away, a reason to sigh
my hands grasped empty air

death, oh sweet siren, enticed you in the night
at the shoreline my dreams took flight
the thief cradled our laughter, joys and fears
tearing down hopes dreamt through the years

I stand here still
In this distant shore
