Will the appetizer, if offered tenderly,
leave you with the desire for more
of the bounty I have prepared.

As the music intertwines
our thoughts and laughter,
will our eyes answer
what we need not ask.

Will the spirit of the wine
caress your painted lips,
wetting an appetite
that will curl the edges
to a smile with each wanton sip.

When I butter your buns
with wondrous spices,
will the butter reach every surface
of your pallet,
quenching each nibble you may take.

If by complete accident,
I spill honey in your lap,
will we have a fine lunch anyway.

As the scent of the slow cooked meal
arouses you,
will it touch you as a subtle fragrance,
or overwhelm you as a feast
when you are ready to consume it.

Will you bite your lower lip hungrily
in need of the entire menu at once,
or will your warm mouth
patiently salivate
for each tender morsel selected.

As your eyes slowly close in the moment
of each savory delicacy,
will the moment last,
parting your soft lips from lingering traces,
or starved anticipation.

Will the aroma
of warm burning candles
last into our evening,
casting multiple shadows on walls of envy.

Though five has always been
a plentiful banquet,
will we reach the seventh course
I have always desired to serve you.

Have I chosen
the most decadent desert possible,
layered with creamy frosting
spread so passionately,
you will moan uncontrollably
during the final
sweetest
bite.

When will we dine together again,
planning an event of flavors
that will drench our taste buds
with satisfying nourishment.
