Sea Of Silence

there is a place where the sea is still
where the waves never speak
where the sky pulls the light away
and all that remains is quiet
a wound that refuses to heal

i stood there once
eyes closed against the salt
waiting for something to surface
but only the weight of absence
answered

you were there too
or maybe you were not
just a shadow in the space between
my breath and the earth
and i could not tell
if you were a memory
or a future

the sea didn’t care
it never cares
it moves in a language we will never know
and in its depths
we vanish
without a sound
without a name

i have learned to walk away
to listen for the silence
to recognize it
as a voice i have come to trust
and though i will never see you again
i know you are still there
waiting to return
but the sea will always keep you
and i will never speak of you again
