The Burden Of Goodbye
The soft whisper of the end pulses beneath our skin.
Longing for the befores and afters,
loud silence clouding our minds.
Within each breath we take the smell of necrosis leaks from our smiles,
The rot within the moment we choose to keep in the box beneath our beds.
Unsettlement snaking its way through our veins,
Between the crevices of our soft and moldable lips,
Not knowing how to leave without leaving.
The gap between us is made of pauses and promises,
The cavern of soft dirt stretches the miles tight and draws the curtains closed.
Peeking through the blinds we can see the future like an oracle,
The prophecy and promise of the curse of circumstance.
Time has fetched the debt he was never owed.
