New Years Resolution
New year, new me
Every year, the same thing.
It's not to eat better or run more.
It's not to stop drinking.
I vow to learn to love myself,
More and more each day
To ignore the nasty words
That hateful people love to say.
I vow to love my nose,
Big as it may be.
I vow to love my belly,
Even if I am getting a bit "fluffy"
I vow to love my legs,
Stretchmarks and cellulite as well.
I should love every part of myself,
No matter how I bloat and swell.
But each year I catch myself,
Believing the hate filled words around me.
Losing sight of the good in my soul,
Because of the mess that people see.
This year, I promise myself once more,
To love myself more than the hated I hear.
Who knows what will happen,
I might actually succeed this year?
